The cruise control system is very complicated and could be more than that but based on our experience there are the 3 top reasons for a cruise control not to work. I cannot get the cc(cruise control) to work and i cannot get the dash to recognize the cd changer is hooked up. Hey guys, i have a '99 2.8q 5 spd. The later audis (including my 99 a4) are known for this, in the cars where the cruise is part of the turn signal stalk. Could this be the problem my cruise doesn't work? It could be a switch failure. In regard to the cc, i have read over the last few days about possible issues so i did the first thing mentioned, i checked the fuse. Also it had been down for like 2 months but i read about clicking 100 times method. And it still doesn't seem to work having never used the vag cc system before, should the cc light come on once the stalk is in it's pulled back position (towards the driver?) Cruise control is a vacuum system that holds the accelerator at a steady level if the vacuum is bad it wont work.
The only way i can have lights is if i hold on my highbeams manualy.
